Nutrition

Despite significant progress, malnutrition remains a critical challenge in Nepal. Stunting affects over 30% of children under five, wasting rates remain stubbornly high in some provinces, and micronutrient deficiencies — including iron, zinc, and vitamin A — are widespread. The Multi-Sector Nutrition Plan (MSNP) provides a policy framework, but implementation across 753 local governments is uneven. Maternal undernutrition perpetuates intergenerational cycles of poor health. This collection examines evidence on nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions, from supplementary feeding programmes and micronutrient supplementation to agricultural diversification and social protection approaches that have worked in comparable contexts.
